The 2015 Soochow International Ultra-marathon (hereinafter referred to as SIU) is about to begin. Over 40 marathoners from 9 countries lined up on November 20 for a press conference. They’ll begin their 24-hour journey in the next day. Noted runners like Yoshikazu Hara from Japan, Ivan Cudin from Italy and Florian Reus from Germany will join SIU once again.
SIU was certificated as Gold Label for 2012 and 2014. Having held ultra-marathon for 15 years, Soochow University hopes to cultivate a good habit for its faculties and students of daily jogging.
At the press conference, Radio Frequency Identification (hereinafter referred to as RFID) donated by alumnus Chen Diaoting was operated for the very first time. Charities like The Yulon Dinos contributed a lot to the event.
President Pan gave a speech: “SIU is an event that embraces both philanthropy and humanism. Not only do we hope to open an arena for the runners to challenge themselves and show their persistency, but we also want to draw people's attention to those warriors who fight for themselves.” Ivan Cudin, the silver medal winner of last year, expressed that “Running is my life.” Obviously, for Cudin, running is not only a physical exercise but also a spiritual discipline.
