SCU Alumni Association in Thailand celebrated its foundation with an inaugural ceremony on December 10th, 2017 at Evergreen Laurel Hotel in Bangkok, where SCU President Wei-Ta Pan, Chief Consultant of SCU Alumni Association Shy-Shenq Liou and other directors of SCU and distinguished guests all attended to give their blessings. It has become Soochow’s 33rd alumni association home and abroad, and Feng-Chun Li was elected its first president with an overwhelming support in votes.
Pan congratulated the newly-established alumni group as the 33rd one of its kind, and appreciated the great support from over 120,000 alumni around the world, who have been the most important assets of Soochow University.
Feng-Chun Li, who graduated from the Department of Accounting more than 30 years ago, is currently the president of Lee Lin Apparel Co. and the chairman of several business associations of overseas Chinese in Thailand. With over three decades of experience in running businesses in Thailand, he has achieved remarkable success with various prominent positions and awards. And he always shows gratitude to the society and devotes himself to the affairs in overseas Chinese communities.
Deemed worthy of being elected as the first president of SCU Alumni Association in Thailand, Li won a predominant support from alumni in Thai area through an online voting system. He received a SCU school flag and a certificate from President Pan, announcing the establishment of SCU Alumni Association in Thailand under the witness by Chen-Yuan Tung, the representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand.
In his remarks Li stated that by promoting the relationship among alumni and assisting the alma mater in its development, he hopes to maximize the association’s value. And the school motto, “Unto a full grown man,” will always be the central spirit of every alumni association, which would always support both SCU and the society, he added.
