Soochow University’s Alumni Association in Southern California (AASC) came as a great help in promoting SCU overseas in the Study Abroad Fair at Chapman University in California on February 19th as quite a few American students showed interest in studying in Soochow.
The recruitment opportunity at Chapman, ranked 125th on U.S News’ Top Universities, was made possible through the efforts by AASC President Thai Sun (Class of 1981, Dep. of Law) and former president Debbie Chen (Class of 1983, Dept. of Economics), who also mobilized many members of the Association to join force to promote their alma mater at the fair.
Under southern California’s scorching sun, the Association staff set up an exquisitely decorated stall and introduced Soochow University to Chapman students with details. They also prepared a QR code that links to SCU’s official English website, as well as a convenient Google sheet that allows students who are interested to leave their contact information right away. Many students from Chapman said they would consider going to Soochow University as exchange students or for its Chinese learning program.
This came as a follow-up action after SCU Vice President Bau-Tscheng Dung visited Chapman in November, 2019, and signed with its vice president Dr. Glenn Pfeiffer an agreement for exchange programs between the two universities.
Soochow administration expressed its gratitude to AASC as well as all the other SCU alumni associations around the world for their contributions in recruiting new bloods from abroad and making SCU more visible on the global map.
