To raise the awareness of regular exercise, Soochow University’s Office of Physical Education has launched multiple one-month physical fitness courses “Do More, Gain More” each semester for three consecutive years. This year’s program consists of five training courses, including Total Resistance Exercises (TRX), Pilates, Nike Training Club (NTC), Yoga Stretch, and Spinning.

“We aim to offer students diverse choices in addition to traditional PE courses, allowing them to gain confidence through exercising and become a better person,” said Jiceh-Der Dong Fang, Director of Office of Physical Education. Initially, the program was intended for students who couldn’t pass the Physical Fitness Test, but, through these PE courses customized by professional trainers, could develop the habit of self-training.

“The integration of our bodies and soul is the same as finding the balance between us and ecology,” said Ingrid, the Pilates instructor. Before the class begins, the coach will ask students to take a few minutes to adjust their breath and clear out their minds. The class focuses on static rhythm and is quite different from regular PE classes, which draws many students to take this class regularly.

Each trainer has put their efforts into class planning, and made adjustments on movements for students among various levels, along with interactive activities. As the slogan goes: Do More, Gain More, these special PF courses hope to help Soochow students, faculty and staff enjoy exercises with something they feel interested.
