On April 26th, 2021, the National Central Library presented awards to Soochow University including Best Communion Award, Best Accessibility Award, and Best Resources Contribution Award in the category of theses and dissertations. With the dedication to the promotion of academic research, SU once again got major titles under its belt.

This time, SU outperformed other private universities in terms of the number of authorized electronic full-text essays and the number of downloaded papers, and has won the Best Resources Contribution Award as the school got excellent ratings in each sub ranking, showing its hard work in academic research.

To encourage more energy from public and private universities and research institutions in Taiwan, the National Central Library investigates the utilization of academic resources by analyzing databases and conducting surveys, and establishes the Academic Impact Awards.

For the purpose of developing academic ethics, protecting the rights of copyright holders, promoting the accessibility of resources, and enhancing international competitiveness, SU graduate students are required to receive training in academic ethics at the beginning of their enrollment. And upon the completion of their theses or dissertations, they are asked to conduct similarity tests with a plagiarism checker “Turnitin” to ensure the originality of their academic papers, before the library examines their accuracy and completeness in formats and styles.

SU is committed to implementing regulations that are relevant to academic ethics and encouraging the publication of theses. With the efforts, SU’s academic visibility is enhanced, and the school is hoping to increase the value of academic archives.
