Soochow University was awarded NT$91.94 million for its Higher Education SPROUT Project (HESP) in the 2022-23 academic year as the Ministry of Education (MOE) made an announcement on June 16th, 2022. This would mean SU has received over 460 million within five academic years since 2018.
The projects that have been approved include those focusing on the development of teaching and research characteristics, the practice of university social responsibility, the improvement of education assistance, and provision of aboriginal student counseling and public services.
This year, SU has devoted its effort to completing those projects with the hope to be a comprehensive university that can develop sustainably, give back to society, go global, and cultivate cross-disciplinary talents with creative approaches.
The MOE launched the HESP in 2018, and the five-year plan aims at helping universities develop innovative teaching that can bridge the gap between academia and industry, inspire students to be independent learners, and promote diversity in college.
