From December 13th to 30th, 2022, Soochow University had displayed at its Memory Archives (school history showroom) its collaborations with multiple companies on implementing the concept and policy of environmental social governance (ESG).

In the opening ceremony, SU President Wei-Ta Pan expressed his gratitude to the alumni and partnered corporations for providing the opportunity to help Soochow students learn more about ESG and apply it for themselves in a practical situation in the future.

And Soochow has been a leader in the promotion and implementation of ESG, evidenced by this year’s 24-hour Soochow Ultra-marathon being the world’s first carbon neutral running race, Pan added.

TOPCO’s Vice President Ge-Wei Sun quoted Morris Chang as saying, “globalization is almost dead” to stress that cooperation in business among countries is weakening; however, that in the development of sustainability will never be, and the world must continue working together to save the Earth.

President of Flowring Bin-Xian Liang pointed out that many supply chains for brands were cut off, resulting in a surge in budget, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change. In addition, a corporation’s reputation will be at risk under the lens of social media; therefore, enterprises must learn to minimize these risks and carry out the policy of ESG.

Vice President of Jyi Shyang Industrial and Soochow alumna Qiu-Ping Wang considered it an honor to return to her alma mater and take part in the exhibition. The products of the company displayed this time have been designed and manufactured to promote a greener future for corporations and to create an eco-friendly environment for the next generation.

Other than the alumni and the companies they represented, Soochow also presented its ESG achievements contributed by various units, including the School of Big Data Management, the Office of General Affairs, as well as the Socialization and Aesthetics Education Center.
