In order to express appreciation to generous donors, SCU and its Alumni Association held a ceremony on 11th March. Alumni also prepared eye-catching performances to celebrate SCU’s 117th birthday.
During the past year, SCU raised 99.75 million Taiwan dollars. There were totally 1194 people who made donations to SCU. Among those warm-hearted donors, J.T. Tai & Co. Foundation and Jiren Liu, the president of Alumni Association, deserve special thanks inasmuch as they respectively donated over 10 million Taiwan dollars to SCU. Weida Pan, president of SCU, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to every single donor; in addition, he promised that SCU would make the most out of the donations received.
Last year, SCU used the donated money to refurbish 2 old dormitories. Furthermore, it actively promoted academia-university collaboration. SCU focused on Fintech and signed an agreement with Fubon Financial Holdings to provide classes closely related to current tendency of industry taught by experienced staffs from Fubon.
Alumni Chorus as well as Alumni Beijing Opera Club performed at the ceremony. Not only did the Chorus sing, but they also added body languages to make the performance more interesting. The Beijing Opera Club performed their brand new play, and many classical episodes.
Mr. Edward Rada was a special guest from the US. He is the president of Friends of Soochow Foundation. He was glad to see that SCU has put a lot of effort on the improvement of educational facilities. Mr. Rada would continue his father’s contribution toward SCU and assist SCU financially and academically.
Alumni provided valuable support for students and professors at SCU. Although they had been graduated for many years, but they still cared for SCU. Having built good reputation of SCU in their career, those outstanding alumni hope current SCU students cherish their resources and enrich their school life.
