Soochow University Myanmar Alumni Association Awards Scholarships to Support Myanmar Students

Soochow University held its Myanmar Alumni Association Scholarship Award Ceremony and Dinner on October 21, 2026, at the Cosmos Hotel Taipei, bringing together university representatives, alumni, and students to celebrate the achievements of four Myanmar freshmen and to strengthen ties within the Soochow community.

The event was attended by University President Jan Chyan-Long, Myanmar Alumni Association President Chun-Yun Tseng, and several distinguished alumni and university representatives.

Having worked his way through university, Tseng understands the financial challenges students often face. Inspired by his own experiences, he joined fellow alumnus Mr. Ming-Hsiang Wang in establishing a scholarship to support students from Myanmar, helping them pursue higher education at Soochow University.

This year, four incoming Myanmar students received scholarships in recognition of their academic aspirations. During the dinner, alumni shared personal experiences and offered encouragement, creating a welcoming atmosphere for students beginning their academic journeys in Taiwan.

Beyond financial assistance, the Myanmar Alumni Association actively supports Soochow University’s international recruitment efforts by building connections with Chinese-language schools in Myanmar and introducing more students to educational opportunities in Taiwan.

The event highlighted the lasting bonds between Soochow University and its overseas alumni, as well as their shared commitment to supporting future generations. The university will continue strengthening its global alumni network and expanding opportunities for international students to pursue their academic goals.
