Hundreds of alumni of SCU mountain climbing club came back to their alma mater on March 24th, 2018, to celebrate the Club’s 50th anniversary and enjoyed a wonderful reunion at the Wang Xin Square of B building at Waishuangsi campus.

As a club member himself back in his college days, SCU President Wei-Ta Pan, absent on a business leave, recorded a video message to express his congratulation to the Club and all the former members. Vice-President Bau-Tscheng Dung and Secretary General Shu-Fang Wang celebrated the occasion at the scene with more than three hundred alumni, most wearing the club’s orange and yellow uniforms to enjoy the reunion of this big family and some even coming from overseas.

Since the club’s foundation in 1968, the members trained hard and accomplished many records and missions, such as the first-ever success in conquering Mt. Qilai North Peak, middle/low-altitude expeditions, rock climbing, upstream river-crossing, and so on. The Club had also set many exploration records by making the first attempts to climb many of Taiwan’s summits, which had earned prestige and fame for the Club.

During the reunion, many alumni shared their beautiful memories and showed their old pictures of their days in the mountain climbing club. Some of them even brought or wore their mountaineering equipment, club uniforms and armbands, which evoked many participants’ memories. In the end, all the alumni sang folk songs together and wished the club a happy 50th birthday.

The Club will have another climbing trip to He-Huan Mountain North Peak on July 9th, 2018, to extend the heart-warming atmosphere of the reunion and to wish to the Club more prosperity and more record-setting accomplishments in the future.
