Soochow’s 15 Winter Service Teams Setting Off to Offer Help

Fifteen teams of Soochow University’s student service clubs are ready to provide their help and care home and abroad for the upcoming 2019 winter break. On January 14^th, SCU’s vice president Bau-Tscheng Dung presented the school’s flag to each service team, reminding all the team members the importance of giving.

Among the teams this year, 12 are going into villages and towns in remote areas across Taiwan, while the other 3 are heading abroad to West Timor, Manila (the Philippines), and Chiang Mai (Thailand), respectively.

Dung urged students to put Soochow’s motto “Unto a full grown man” into practice, encouraging students to overcome fears, take on challenges, broaden horizons, and identify themselves in the process of offering their services.

Hung-Yi Hsiao, Dean of Student Affairs, hoped that students would stay safe, respect people of different genders, gain valuable experiences when helping others.

In addition, 23 students from the University’s service clubs were also awarded scholarships for the caring assistance they have been offered.
