On November 30, 2020, entertainers Kid (Po-Sheng Lin) and Belle (Yu-Tung Chu) visited Soochow’s Downtown Campus as game show hosts of ETtoday!Run News to play moot court fun games with the school’s law majors, who were just honored as “Enterprises’ Favorite Private University Law School Students of 2020.”

“Law departments always give an impression of seriousness!’’ The hosts spoke out the perception of common people. However, through this program, the students brought out different images and proved that law can be approachable.

“Who does Kid (the host) look like more? A goofy comedian or a handsome actor?” Four Law majors debated on the hilarious topic showing their professional expertise by using logical dialectics and prompting evidence despite the strange and funny case. In the end of the debate, Professor Chih-Feng Li judged that it was a tie and he appraised both the affirmative and negative sides from the process, which gave a good example of legal inference.

During the Werewords game, in which players needed to find murderers, another two Soochow students of law made good use of their daily training and screened out suspects by raising incisive questions and analyzing situations. This showed that legal logics and skills can be applied to practical cases as lawyers have to infer the conclusion from vast amount of information provided by the litigants.

Through the interactive game show, the Department of Law and its students have successfully shaken off the stereotypic label with their creativity and proficiency, hoping that younger generation can more willingly step into the world of law.
