Nine Soochow professors, all of whom were principal investigators of AI research projects and invited by SU’s Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence Research, reported their findings in five different areas in Puren Hall at Waishuanghsi campus on December 17th, 2020.
Chyi-Yin Wu, Deputy Director of Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica, and Chen-Tso Chu, Secretary-General of International Artificial Intelligence and Law Research Foundation, also shared their points of view as guest speakers on the changes and adaptations in this era of AI technology.
In his opening remarks, SU Vice President Wei-Liang Chao hoped this seminar could not only inspire interdisciplinary research but also encourage more faculty to apply AI technology to their courses.
Guest speakers Wu and Chu also suggested that modern people should be not be afraid of or resistant to AI but face and use it with caution and discretion so that AI applications can change the society in a better way.
The nine presenters offered various AI solutions on problems in different areas and themes, including legal affairs, outsourcing policy-making, medical care, big data, natural language processing, data analysis of germs, machine learning in chemistry, and smart platform of FinTech.
The Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence Research organizes such seminars every year with a view to helping more faculty members realize the importance of AI and offer AI-related courses.
