With the joint effort by National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Yin Hai Kuang Foundation (YHKF), and Soochow’s Chang Fo-Chuan Center for the Study of Human Rights (CFCC), Yin Hai Kuang Human Rights Lecture Series was officially kicked off on March 8th, 2021, marking NHRC’s first-ever attempt to cooperate with non-government groups.
At the inaugural ceremony, YHKF’s Chairman Kun-Ku Wu, President of Control Yuan Chu Chen, and Director of CFCC Yi-Jun Zhou signed the document, with the attendance and witness of some distinguished guests including members of NHRC Tong-Cheng Gao, Qiu-Jin Tian, and You-Ling Wang, and professors Mo Huang and Hua-Yuan Xue from Soochow and National Cheng Chi University, respectively.
As the only higher education institute in Taiwan dedicated to the research and teaching of human rights issues, SU is proud to contribute to the advocacy and development of human rights. CFCC director Yi-Jun Zhou noted that through the cooperation, more people would open their arms to the marginal groups and further speak for them in a more inclusive mindset.
The lecture series was named under a quote in an article written by Professor Hai-Kuang Yin: “Whether we can live as a complete person depends on whether we have human rights. Anyone willing to live like a person should fight for his/her own human rights.”
From March to October, 2021, the Series would offer various lectures, workshops, and study groups about human rights, as well as the first-hand issues shared by experts and NGO workers. SU earnestly hoped that anyone who cares about human rights could join the series of informative events.
