On December 9th, 2021, professors of Soochow University enjoyed the banquet hosted by the Slovak Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei at The Sherwood Taipei Hotel, as SU was the only university in Taiwan invited by the Slovak Representative Martin Podstavek to meet the Slovak delegation led by Slovakia’s Deputy Economics Minister Karol Galek.
SU Vice President Bau-Tscheng Dung and Director Chia-Ming Chang and Executive Director Ter-Hsing Cheng of SU’s Central and Eastern European Center joined with the distinguished guests from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan and the industry to bolster ties between the two countries.
During the dinner, the three representatives of Soochow University struck up a warm friendship with Martina Klofacova, Director of Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport and Lucia Kiss, Director General of Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, and warmly welcomed Slovak students to study in Soochow University.
In his remarks, Slovak Representative Martin Podstavek expressed his gratitude to Soochow University for helping to create the first Slovak language and culture course in Taiwan, as SU’s Central and Eastern European Center has remained the only research center in Taiwan that focuses on Central and Eastern Europe since 2013.
