Standing out from over 100 candidates, Soochow alumnus Nick Cheng-Nan Lin (Class of 2007; Master’s Program of Political Science) was one of the nine winners of 2021 Academia Sinica Early-Career Investigator Research Achievement Award.
In the announcement released by the highest-level research institute in Taiwan on November 5th, the review committee considered Lin “giving genius performances among geniuses, which means genuine and solid excellence.” Lin was also one of the only three winners among 40 candidates in the Humanity and Social Science category.
Lin had graduated from Soochow’s Department of Political Science in 2004, and Master's Program in Political Science in 2007. He had worked at the Department as a research assistant before he was admitted to Rice University in the U.S. and obtained his Ph.D in Political Science in 2015.
Earlier this year Lin also won Ta-You Wu Memorial Award from Ministry of Science and Technology.
As an alumnus of SU, Lin expressed his deep gratitude to the school and professors, including Shiow-Duan Hawang, Mab Huang, Chih-Jen Sheng, and Chih-Chung Wu, for taking good care of him along the years as their encouragement, support and teaching had help him achieve what he is today.
