To celebrate the 122th anniversary of Soochow University, hundreds of teachers, students and alumni, led by SU President Wei-Ta Pan and many administrative heads, jogged for a symbolic leg of a 122-km run at the sports track at Waishuangshi campus on March 2nd, 2022, as this year’s SU Online Run has drawn 1,220 participants in total.
The Online Run would last for a month, starting from February 21st, with the contestants required to finish 122 kilometers before March 20th. The total worth of the prizes has reached over NT$ one million with items including laptop computers, iPhone 13, and sports equipment and apparel, all from the sponsorship by many alumni or their companies.
In addition to the numerous alluring prizes for those who run for 15 kilometers or more every week, to encourage the participants to achieving the goal of 122 kilometers, the Office of Physical Education also arranged “Easy Running Wednesday” every week, setting up an “All You Can Eat” food supply area and giving opportunities for the runners to run together.
Jiceh-Der Dong Fang, the Director of the Office of Physical Education, hoped to provide a unique chance for those who want to exercise without being limited by time and space.
There are a lot of activities during the event, such as lucky draws and loyalty cards, and participants can download their photos on the Facebook fanpage. Besides signing up online, an additional 500 spots for on-site registration will be available every Wednesday from 17:30 to 19:00 during the month-long period.
