On August 23rd, 2022, Soochow University signed an agreement of industry-academia cooperation with Octon International Co., Ltd., a local market leader of customer service system in Taiwan, at Waishuangsi Campus, striving to develop better telecommunication and more professional school services and cultivate students’ general knowledge of software industry.
Under the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, remote service has become a trend. With numerous successful experiences in various industries as well as in distance-learning cooperation, Octon will offer an extension project on ORION platform so that faculty and staff can use their mobile phones as their extension phone lines for more convenient communications and a more comprehensive system of school services and affairs.
This year the General Education Center set up the course “The Practice of ESG (Environment, Social, Governance)” with Li-Hsin Chen, CEO of Octon International, as the instructor to teach practical concepts and get students ready for the global community.
Chen also said the cooperation marks a milestone for the company in getting involved in the academic circle in Taiwan, which is expected to lay a solid foundation for future collaboration through information exchanges and educational trainings.
The integration of ORION and Private Branch Exchange (PBX) creates lots of convenience for faculty and staff, and other functions such as online meeting are hoped to better facilitate distance-learning, said SU President Wei-Ta Pan.
