Read to Relax and Recover: SU Library Presents Picture Book Fair

From April 24^th to May 19^th, SU Library celebrated World Book Day with a cross-campus picture book fair. By showcasing over 30 distinct picture books and featuring a lecture by author Higo Wu, the event aimed to help students explore and heal themselves through reading, also known as “bibliotherapy.”

Drawing inspiration from the original book of the 2023 Oscar-winning animation The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse as its major theme, the exhibition introduced visitors the three-sectioned venue echoing steps of self-discovering with sunflower designs surrounding them, which serves as a reminder of the flower’s motto: “follow one’s dreams.”

The Director of SU Library Tsung-Ho Lee said that hosting annual events to celebrate World Book Day has become a tradition at the Library. She further explained that the reason for choosing picture books as this year’s centerpiece was that they are the most classic and effective in bibliotherapy.

“The book fair aims to ease the anxiousness caused by the pandemic and to promote the sense of happiness,” said Lee.

Meanwhile, attendees can also participate in the additional activity offered by the Library during the exhibition, where one gets a special gift after selecting a “picture book card” and completing a form.
