Four Soochow University professors have earned global recognition lately in two prestigious academic rankings: Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists 2024 list and the ScholarGPS Highly Ranked Scholars report. The accolades highlight SU’s growing influence in research excellence across multiple fields.

The World’s Top 2% Scientists list, released by Stanford University, honors researchers for both lifetime and annual scientific impact. SU professors Judy Chuan-Chuan Lin, Jih-Jeng Huang, and Hui-Chun Chu were all recognized for their outstanding contributions to their respective disciplines.

Prof. Judy Chuan-Chuan Lin from the Department of Computer Science and Information Management (CSIM) was featured in the Annual Scientific Impact Rankings for her work in the field of Information Systems. Prof. Jih-Jeng Huang, also from CSIM, earned a position in the Lifetime Scientific Impact Rankings in the field of AI and Image Processing. Notably, Prof. Hui-Chun Chu of CSIM achieved recognition in both categories, reflecting her significant achievements in the field of Education.

The Stanford rankings evaluate researchers across 22 disciplines and 174 subfields using metrics such as citation counts, h-index scores, and adjusted co-authorship, providing a thorough assessment of scientific influence.

In addition to Stanford’s recognition, professors Yung-Ho Chiu and Hui-Chun Chu were listed in the ScholarGPS Highly Ranked Scholars report, which identifies the top 1% of scholars globally in their specialties.

Prof. Chiu from the Department of Economics ranked in the field of Social Sciences for his expertise in Energy, placing in the top 0.73% worldwide. Meanwhile, Prof. Chu, recognized again, excelled in the field of Engineering and Computer Science, specializing in Learning Environments, where she ranked in the top 0.29%.

ScholarGPS bases its rankings on data from over 200 million publications, analyzing academic impact through publication volume, citation counts, and h-index scores.

These international accolades underscore Soochow University’s dedication to academic excellence and the significant global impact of its faculty in advancing research across disciplines.
