Thousands of students and teachers visited the 2025 Malaysia Taiwan Higher Education Fair, held across Klang, Kuala Lumpur, and Kedah in late April. Soochow University’s booth drew high interest, especially in Psychology, Music, Business Administration, and Accounting, while Japanese Studies, Information Management, and Computer Science also received many inquiries.
The fair, organized by the Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia (FAATUM), featured over 60 Taiwanese institutions. Distinguished guests included Phoebe Yeh from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office and Yu-Long Su from the Taiwan Overseas Joint Admissions Committee.
Meng-Ju Yu and Yi-Chin Yeh from Soochow’s Office of International Affairs traveled to the three cities to represent the university and engage with prospective students.
Soochow joined three major sessions. The first took place on April 23 at Klang Royal City Convention Center, attracting students from four independent high schools and several national schools.
The second session, held April 24–25 at Kuen Cheng High School in Kuala Lumpur, had the largest turnout. Notably, Kuen Cheng’s Guitar Club will visit Taiwan this August for a competition, with one event scheduled at Soochow University’s Sung-Yi Hall.
The final stop, April 27–28 at Sin Min Independent High School in Kedah, attracted students from multiple partner schools across Northern Malaysia. Many had established ties with Soochow after President Chyan-Long Jan’s visit in February.
Soochow promoted various scholarships and admission incentives, encouraging Malaysian students to consider Taiwan’s high-quality higher education opportunities.
Special thanks go to Yik-Chee Eng (Economics, Class of 1993), President of the Soochow University Malaysia Alumni Association, for his ongoing support. Many alumni also assisted on-site, sharing personal study-in-Taiwan experiences with visitors.
In May, Soochow will continue its recruitment efforts at the East Malaysia sessions in Sabah and Sarawak, further strengthening links with local high schools.
