SU Joins Palace Museum’s 100th Anni. Celebration with Orchestral Music, Reception Service

Marking the National Palace Museum’s centennial, Soochow University—its location-wise closest academic partner—contributed music performances and guest hospitality duties to the October 20 celebration, underscoring the school’s sustained commitment to cultural collaboration and heritage education.

The opening evening program featured Springtime Scenery for the Palace Museum Centennial (滿山春色故宮慶), a new work jointly composed by SU faculty and students and led by Professor Ching-Po Chiang and performed by the Department of Music chamber ensemble. The group also presented several well-known pieces from Taiwan and abroad, creating a musical tribute to the museum’s hundred-year milestone.

SU’s Friendship Ambassadors, who are frequently invited to serve at major national ceremonies, welcomed over 400 distinguished guests throughout the evening. Their professionalism and cultural literacy impressed attendees and provided students with meaningful experiential learning beyond the classroom.

The centennial celebration brought together leaders from Taiwan’s cultural community, SU President Chyan-Long Jan, representatives of foreign embassies, and delegates from major international museums, including the Tokyo National Museum, the Museum of Oriental Ceramics in Osaka, the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art, the Korean Palace Museum, the Musée du Quai Branly, the Rijksmuseum, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.

Since the signing of an MOU earlier this year, SU and the Palace Museum have broadened cooperation in research, cultural promotion, student practicum opportunities, and international outreach—helping to shape a new chapter in Taiwan’s cultural development.
