In late-October 2025, Soochow University’s Chinese Language Center (CLC) advanced international Chinese language education through academic exchanges with delegations from Myanmar and Thailand. Both sides engaged in an extensive conversation on the collaboration of degree programs, interdisciplinary international bachelor's programs, and Chinese language courses.
On October 20, a delegation from Myanmar explored pathways for Myanmar students to pursue degree studies and Chinese language training at Soochow University. The delegation included Ying-Shia Li of the Soochow University Houston Alumni Association and Kai-Chun Yin from the Myanmar Office of the Overseas Chinese Federation, alongside representatives from the education and medical sectors. SU President Chyan-Long Jan joined discussions on student recruitment, curriculum planning and future collaboration.
On October 29, a delegation from the Praksa Subdistrict Municipality of Thailand, led by Mayor Aranya Su-wanbut, visited Soochow to examine the university’s academic environment and Chinese language programs. The group included city councilors Krissada Aruncharathorn and Amonrat Thangon, along with Methakun Su-wanbut, President of the Praksa Foundation. Discussions centered on potential cooperation in language education and student mobility, with particular attention to program design and institutional support.
During the visit, the Chinese Language Center presented its curriculum structure and introduced customized Chinese language camp programs designed to meet diverse learner needs. The Thai delegation expressed strong interest in these flexible training models, which integrate language learning with cultural experience.
Through exchanges with delegations from Myanmar and Thailand, Soochow University continued to fortify its connections with Southeast Asia. These interactions support long-term collaboration in Chinese language education, student exchange, and cultural engagement, further reinforcing the university’s commitment to internationalization.
