Soochow EMBA Team Wins Top Honor at SinoPac Cup National Case Competition

Soochow University’s EMBA team, “Ouba Ouni led by Prof. Ou,” won the SinoPac Gold Award at the second SinoPac Cup National EMBA Case Competition on April 26, 2026. Competing in the Digital Transformation Division, the team stood out among 24 teams from 16 universities with their exceptional acumen in strategic analysis and digital transformation.

The competition focused on corporate digital transformation. The Soochow team analyzed Carrefour, a global retail leader, and examined how the company uses data, technology, and business model restructuring to create future growth momentum under intense competition and low-margin pressures.

The team further combined industry trends with management tools to propose a complete transformation roadmap and strategic blueprint. Their analysis and presentation received strong recognition from the judging panel.

Led by business school dean Jin-Shyang Roan and professor Su-Hua Ou, the five second-year in-service Master students completed their case analysis in three weeks while balancing full-time job responsibilities, coursework, and master’s theses.

Team leader Po-Sen Kuo considered teamwork the key to their success. “From strategy analysis to presentation delivery, every member gave their full effort,” He said. He also thanked the dean and the faculty advisor for their guidance throughout the process.

Team member Wen-Na Chen said the case covered a wide range of complex issues, but the team successfully integrated different perspectives and proposed concrete strategies, and “nailing it under tremendous pressure makes the achievement especially meaningful.”

Wen-Che Chiang noted that the competition overlapped with thesis preparation, making time management a major challenge. However, he said the process helped the team grow quickly through real-world practice, which was “one of the most memorable experiences in this EMBA journey.”

Mei-Chuan Chou emphasized that a clear division of labor helped the team break down the large case into different professional areas. The team also prepared systematically for the judges’ questions, demonstrating strong organization and collaboration.

First-time competitor Jyun-Dze Yu said the experience marked an important milestone in his EMBA learning journey. “Participating with curiosity and a willingness to learn not only broadened my perspective, but also deepened my understanding of corporate transformation,” he said.

Soochow University’s EMBA Program said the award demonstrated students’ ability to integrate strategic analysis with practical application. The program will continue encouraging students to take part in competitions and industry projects, strengthening the link between theory and practice while cultivating leaders with global vision and industry insight.
