At Soochow University’s alumni election  members voted for the 4th outstanding alumni in 2015. For the 116th anniversary of Soochow University,  a video exposition was held especially for the 4th outstanding alumni. The expo was well decorated, and in the middle of the board was the eye-catching logo of Soochow University. Many photographs of the alumni and their sayings were also on display. The expo was presented interactively so that viewers could move the equipment on the board. A number of students served as guides for visitors to the expo. A specially made biographical magazine featuring outstanding alumni was made to help visitors to the expo know more about what might await them in the future and  about the alumni’s successful experiences.

Hao, Wang, class of 69 alumnus from the Chinese Literature Department, said that no success is realized without setbacks, and the more frustrations you encounter, the greater is your chance for success. Chien-Lung, Lin, another class of 69 alumnus from the Chinese Literature Department, said that literature is just like a dish; there can be anything in one dish. Li-Huan, Chien, class of 66 alumnus from the Business Administration Department, said that she would rather be refused by others, but before that, she would never refuse herself. A video from the exposition highlighted interviews with the alumni.

Soochow University was founded in Soochow, China in 1900, and after the Civil War, the members of the Soochow Alumni Association who fled to Taiwan established a new institution here in 1954, which made Soochow University a school with a rich history. It is also Taiwan’s first private university. Souvenirs were sold on the first floor of the Second Academic Building, and an expo of old pictures were presented to show the history of the school’s buildings, how they came to be named and also the founding of each department. The expo also introduced some of the leading donors among the alumni, including Chi-Hsien, Yang, Hsiou-Tzu, Chang Chung-Chi, Kuie, Mu-Kai, Duan, Wen-Yen, Tsao, Chao-Yung, Shih, Han-Ping, Chiu, Chih-Yen, Shih, Ting-Jui, Chen and others.

Many alumni returned to Soochow University and got together to celebrate the 116th anniversary of Soochow University by taking part in the day’s events such as the history expo and the alumni tea party. Although the school has changed over time, by looking at old pictures of the campus, the alumni were able to recall their memories of the good old days at Soochow University.
