Under the guidance of Financial Supervisory Commission of the Executive Yuan, Soochow University and Taiwan Insurance Institute signed a collaboration agreement on June 25th, 2021, to jointly create a training platform for digital insurance and actuaries in response to the raised awareness of insurance and dramatic changes to the industry due to the impact of coronavirus disease.

Through the new platform, SU’s School of Business and the 50-year-old Department of Finance Engineering and Actuarial Mathematics hope to help Taiwan’s insurance industry complete the digital transition and align with IFRS 17 (international Financial Reporting Standard) and ICS (Insurance Capital Standard) before 2026.

President Wei-Ta Pan said that insurance has always been the best tool of risk management. Facing the digitization trends of almost all industries, insurance industry urgently needs great talents and innovative ideas in research to offer insurance products that meet market requirements.

In the era of COVID-19 pandemic, SU, as the role model of university social responsibility, has been actively developed talents that the industry needs with high quality courses and innovations in research.
