According to the information released by the Ministry of Education (MOE) on June 10th, 2020, Soochow University has been granted NT$ 95.79 million of subsidies in Higher Education SPROUT Project (HESP) for this academic year, marking an increase of 6 million compared to the last year.
Standing for “Sustained Progress and Rise of Universities in Taiwan,” the SPROUT Project is a five-year plan, which can be divided into two parts. In the first part (2018-2019), SCU had been making progress in the six major categories under the four goals of HESP.
Aimed at cultivating “π-Type” talents, Soochow had devoted lots of its efforts to broadening students’ international horizons, while creating more opportunities and providing more assistance to disadvantaged students.
In the second part of the Project (2020-2022), Soochow will continue its development in the six categories, putting more emphasis on embodying its social responsibility in teaching and learning.
Through class evaluations by students, survey of students’ learning effectiveness and the test of University Career and Competency Assessment Network (UCAN), SCU has been doing its best to make sure the school provides what students need for their learning.
Soochow’s core target in HESP has always been its students. In addition to keeping doing comprehensive analyses, SCU will regularly review and improve its strategies and measures of the project, ensuring the effective and efficient implementation of the HESP.
