Supported by the J. T. Tai & Co. Foundation, the 5th Soochow University “Distinguished Mentor Program” successfully empowered 110 students through 111 intensive sessions led by 31 outstanding alumni across 15 diverse professional fields. The achievements of this five-month initiative were presented in an appreciation event on December 20th, marking a significant milestone in bridging academic theory with industry reality while inspiring future cohorts for career exploration.
The journey unfolded from September 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026, featuring a series of activities that broke down classroom barriers. By bringing together a strong team of industry professionals from different fields including psychology, finance, technology, law, and accounting, the scheme effectively strengthened practical connections between mentors and mentees through lectures, corporate visits, and community networking events.
Additionally, the project organized five cross-group industry tours, leading participants to institutions such as the Mainland Affairs Council, CTBC Bank Headquarters, Ai3 Artificial Intelligence Co., the NTU Museum of Anthropology and Formosa Television. By engaging with frontline experts, trainees were able to precisely define their career paths. To optimize the use of university resources, select activities were opened to the entire student body, facilitating knowledge exchange and broadening the influence.
The thanksgiving gathering was creatively themed as “The Perfume Laboratory,” symbolizing how each of the students resembles a raw, unrefined essential oil. Throughout the semester, under the guidance and meticulous blending of their advisors, these learners underwent a transformation, ultimately crafting a unique and multi-layered "fragrance of life" that reflects their individual dreams and personalities.
Dean of the office of Academic Affairs Chin-Hsiung Hsu thanked J. T. Tai & Co. Foundation, Friends of Soochow, and Soochow Elite Club while honoring 31 alumni mentors. Director of Soochow Elite Club Tiao-Ting Chen and Coordinator of Distinguished Mentor Program Hui-Ying Helene Lin encouraged trainees to cherish these mentorship bonds, stay connected with their peers, and share their experiences to inspire future participants to join this meaningful endeavor.
