On October 1st, 2021, Washington High School (WHS) in Taichung signed an agreement with Soochow University, becoming the 27th partner high school and the first such school in central Taiwan of SU’s Strategic Alliance.
SU has been invited to WHS’s College Fair for years, and has earned great results and reputation among WHS teachers and students. Therefore, WHS took the initiative to contact Soochow for further cooperation on teaching, counseling, and training. Due to the far distance between the two schools, this cooperation will proceed mainly online and partially offline.
WHS is the first bilingual high school with an international division in central Taiwan. WHS’s main goal – "internationalization" – accords with the Program on Bilingual Education for Students in College, and gives hopes and potentials for cooperation with SU in bilingual courses.
In response to the low birth rate, SU has considered it a top priority to expand partnerships with high schools for more stable sources of students. By collaborating with more and more high schools since 2012, Soochow now has strategic alliance partners in all places across the country, including Taipei City, New Taipei City, Yilan, Taichung, and Kinmen, and promises to create more mutual and win-win cooperation in the future.
