Soochow University Establish Research Center with Corvinus University of Budapest, Setting Precedent in Taiwan

Soochow University, as a precedent-setting leader in Taiwan, established a joint research center with Corvinus University of Budapest on July 20, 2015 in order to strengthen academic communication with central and eastern European countries.

Soochow University has been communicating academically with Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. It also established the Central and Eastern European Center in 2012, as the precedent association in related fields in Taiwan, making great achievements in education and research.

To strengthen academic exchange, the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at Soochow University formed a central and eastern European study group of about 30 students in 2015. In 15 days, this study group, led by professors from the Central and Eastern European Center, visited Budapest, Brno and Prague, collaborating with Corvinus University of Budapest, Pazmany Peter University, Masaryk University, and Charles University.

On the first day when the study group arrived in Europe, professors from the Central and Eastern European Center, on behalf of Soochow University, held a opening ceremony for the Corvinus University of Budapest -Soochow University Research Center and gave the Corvinus University books prepared by the library and Office of International and Cross-Strait Academic Exchange at Soochow University, so as to enrich Hungary’s research on Taiwan. The study group then visited Hungary plains and experienced European culture

The Corvinus University of Budapest -Soochow University Research Center is expected not only to be the base for Soochow University’s research and development in Europe but also to build a more internationalized and multicultural future for Taiwan.
