A series of activities were held by the Health and Counseling Center in Learning Commons on March 12 in the 116th anniversary celebration of Soochow University. The purppse of these activities was for disabled students to show their appreciation of the love from SCU, and the main activity was a talent show held by disabled students.

The first performer was Shen, Bo-Hong, a visually-impaired Chinese major, who sang two popular songs. Bo-Hong then sang another song with Wang, Shi-Peng, a visually-impaired law major. The lyrics convey their positive attitude towards life. Although they were born to disability, they are striving to overcome difficulties in their lives. Besides the talent show, various products such as cookies and handcrafts were sold in“Charity Sale Zone". The purpose of this selling activity was to help disabled students deal with barriers at work; meanwhile, it could make them feel a sense of achievement. “Interaction Zone” welcomed the faculty and students to talk to disabled students in order to better understand them. Loving care cards were placed everywhere on campus to encourage the faculty and students to share their stories and thoughts so as to convey the essence of love.

The staff said that they hope through these activities to raise the awareness about the difficulties disabled students enounter and to build a more friendly campus for them.
