On June 12th, the last day of Dragon Boat Festival vacation, around 50 students gathered together at the gymnasium at the Waishuangxi Campus, piling up a set of more than 30,000 dominoes to commemorate graduation from Soochow University. This is a part of this year’s graduation activities called “Together with the Dominoes,” planned by 105-year Graduating- Student Association and the activity team of Group Education Series.

According to Graduating-Student Association, such activities was held for the first time at Soochow University; however, in National Chiao Tung University, it has been held for many years and warmly welcomed. As a result, students hope they can participate in a similar activity before graduation in order to create memories.

The piling-up started from 8 a.m. and caused much effort before 4:30 p.m. when the domino chain was finally knocked over. Over 30,000 dominoes were piled up, with more than 10 different patterns like Pokémon ball, Snoopy, Crayon Shinchan and castles.  The badge of SCU and that of the Graduating Student Association this year--a trencher cap--were also included.

At last, it took nearly three minutes for every piece of the dominoes to be knocked over.  At the end the audience cheered with excitement. “Piling up dominoes is just like our lives. The more failure we experience, the braver we will become!” This domino activity enhanced the bonding among students, and everyone came home with a big smile on their face.
