Several student clubs of Soochow University (SCU) were awarded honorable prizes at the 2017 University Student Clubs Evaluation held by National Chung Cheng University on March 25 and 26. Among 258 college student clubs from around Taiwan, this year the SCU Dance Group won the Most Special Club Award, the first time the award was given. In addition, the SCU Cultural Service Team received the Best Award for Social Service, and the SCU Musical Performance Club was awarded the Excellence Prize for Academic and Art Activity.
Meanwhile, at the 2017 University Student Association Evaluation held by National Chiayi University on the same day, the SCU Student Association earned recognition for its long history of and outstanding performance devoted to pursuing student autonomy by winning the Excellence Award for Student Autonomy Activity.
Kuan-Yi Chen, director of the SCU Dance Group, participated in this event for the first time. He was excited when he learned of the award and expressed his deep gratitude to the faculty adviser and student dancers for their dedication and persistence. They performed “Way Back to Original Goal” to convey the importance of being passionate and being persistent in realizing one’s dreams both in and outside of school.
