The varsity speakers of Soochow’s School of Law swept awards, including the championship, in the 9th International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot Court Competition held at the headquarters of The Red Cross Society of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Taipei on December 9th and 10th, 2017.

Soochow was represented by three law school juniors: Yan-Jun Lin, Ya-Ting Yu, and Zi-Yan Peng. Lin, the team leader, participated in the competition for the second time, while Yu represented Soochow in this year’s Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. After four simulated court debates in 2 days, the Soochow varsity won the championship, with Lin and Yu both named the debater of the year with the same scores.

The law majors’ stellar showing must be attributed to the training and guidance from Assistant Professor Wan-Chun Ho and Lecturer Zi-Wen Li of Soochow Law School, as well as the advice from Pin-Xuan Xu, fifth-year SCU law major and a varsity speaker in 7th IHL Moot Court Competition, and the help from other alumna.
