More than a thousand of Soochow’s newly enrolled freshmen enjoyed the 2018 First Mile Orientation from September 3rd to 6th as they received warm welcome and knew more about campuses and how to adapt to their college life ahead.
The event, prepared by the Office of Student Affairs for over 6 months with the help of student volunteers, consisted of six types of activities including campus identification, interpersonal support, learning facilitation, resource familiarization, career planning, and healthy living.
The Honorary President of Soochow University Alumni Association Song-Chang Tang suggested the new comers to well plan and enjoy their college life, which would be quite different from that in the high school. Tang also presented to the freshmen three gifts, including a carrying bag, a name card strapped holder, and a T-shirt with the school motto printed on.
In addition to the fun activity of school motto ball rolling, which symbolized the passing of Soochow’s spirit, other activities such as campus guided tour, club presentations and class competition games were all enjoyed by the participating freshmen. They truly felt the warmth in this big family of Soochow, and anticipated a solid and colorful college life for the next few years to come.
