Soochow University alumna Feng-Tao Chen (陳鳳桃)(Department of Economics, Class of 1983) was elected chairperson of the board of the Joint Chinese University Alumni Association (JCUAA) of Southern California at the Association’s first regular meeting of 2019, which was held on January 13th at the Arcadia Community Center in Los Angeles.
Once the President and Vice-President of the Soochow University Alumni Association of Southern California, Chen currently works at the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), and is also a board member of the Friends of Soochow. She has been giving all-out effort to help Soochow’s alumni and the University’s development overseas. As a dedicated member of the overseas Chinese community, she has been actively participating in the activities of the JCUAA of Southern California since she became a member back in 2006. Chen stood out in this year’s election with a vast majority of votes as her dedication and hard work were highly approved by the fellow members.
Chen’s campaign messages put emphasis on unity, heritage, responsibility, and innovation, which match what the colors of Soochow University’s emblem represent: red for enthusiasm and activeness while black for perseverance and bravery. She is believed to be able to carry on the Soochow spirit and lead the organization with success.
