Soochow’s new dormitory officially started to provide comfortable living space with 197 rooms, or 599 beds, to the University’s students. In the opening ceremony on August 28, 2019, SCU President Wei-Ta Pan believed the 10-story off-campus Chuan-Szu House located in You Hua High School near Beitou MRT station will help students live and learn well with its quality housing environment and services.
Rented from You Hua High School and accommodating mainly elder students from sophomores to graduate students, the complex is operated as a co-ed dorm with male students living on the 2nd to 4th floors and female students on the 5th to 8th floors.
To overcome the school’s long-time problem of limited land and insufficient dorm rooms, Soochow’s Student Housing Center has strived to look for or build off-campus student accommodations over the past years. Following He-Jiang House, He-Feng House, and Ho-Luck House, Chuan-Szu House became the newest and most modern one of Soochow’s dormitories.
