As feature speakers invited by Soochow Co-Site and New Wen College, two health professionals Chi-Ru Tsai and Jo-Wei Chen shared their experiences in career transitions to new endeavors in providing health advice and assistance. This seminar titled “From Cradles to Rocking Chairs: Better Health for Everyone” drew an audience of scores of students at the second floor of Youyi Plaza at Soochow’s Downtown Campus on March 18th, 2020.

Chi-Ru Tsai, working formerly in the field of venture capital management, spoke on his determination in searching for a new career through which he could fulfill himself despite early hesitation in altering jobs. He later founded MedEx Asia, where he has since integrated his medical knowledge gained from Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences and Medical Biotechnology, National Taiwan University, with concepts of physical fitness, providing coaches of collaborated companies with comprehensive training that would in turn benefit various groups of customers.

Jo-Wei Chen, who used to be a marketing supervisor in several renowned cosmetics and skincare brands like L'Oréal, Estée Lauder, and Shiseido, highlighted on her transition from a typical workaholic enjoying taking on challenges at work to a well-balanced yoga teacher for parents and their children. After getting pregnant and becoming a mother, she had been struggling with the distribution of her time and energy between work and family before she began her exploration on her career path of yoga teaching. She has advocated her philosophy of “the beauty of moderate achievements:” “Just right amount of life and work creates best health for us.”
