On December 5th, 2020, nearly 50 overseas students of Soochow University joined the bike riding event organized by Office of International and Cross-Strait Academic Exchange (ICAE) and accomplished the 40-km cycling challenge along Tamsui River with President Wei-Ta Pan and the Director and staff of ICAE.

ICAE made a contingency plan for rainy weather, but luckily, the sky cleared up soon after all participants started out on the bike path. They pedaled along while enjoying the scenery. After reaching Guandu Temple and taking photos with President Pan, many students looked for the Kandelia, mud skippers, and fiddler crabs in the mud of nearby wetlands, forming an interesting scene.

After getting to Bali, the students strolled leisurely and took pictures at the Left Bank Park before having lunch at a seafood restaurant. During lunch time, group activities hosted by the ICAE created a lively atmosphere for all participants.

“The weather was pretty nice and we discovered more of Taiwan’s beauty during this journey.” “It’s great to become closer to President Pan. And the mud skippers we saw in the wetland were so adorable.” Most participants gave positive feedbacks and thanked the ICAE for their arrangements.

Despite the impact of COVID-19, the activity, under the joint efforts by Office of Military Instruction, Health and Counseling Center, Environmental Safety, Sanitation, and General Management Division, and numerous volunteers, was rounded off. Through the event, Soochow hoped all participants could have wonderful memories at the end of 2020.
