Soochow Recruits Overseas Students via Live Broadcast

On Friday noon, November 13^th, 2020, Soochow University went online to vie for prospective students abroad through a 60-minute live streaming session with the help of University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students, an organization that promotes Taiwan’s colleges and universities and assists overseas recruitment.

Under the severe impact of COVID-19, SU has turned to different ways to recruit overseas students such as web videos, live broadcasts and films. And University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students had invited colleges including Soochow to promote their own features online.

The live streaming of SU lasted in a casual atmosphere for an hour, during which staff of the Office of International Affairs and many overseas students shared their experiences of living in Taiwan and studying in SU.

Through the live broadcast, students, teachers, and parents overseas had a better understanding of Soochow regarding relevant information of life in Taipei, features of different departments, living experiences in dorms, scholarships and employment opportunities.

Despite the impossibility to visit other countries for student recruitment, SU has developed this innovative method to share viewpoints of overseas students and attract future prospects.
