SU School of Big Data Management presented its third Wen Hua Scholarship for a total of NTD$ 225,000 to two assistant professors and 19 undergraduate students at Sun Memorial Hall in Waishuangsi campus on December 30th, 2020. Among the recipients, senior Ch'ing-Hsuan Liu is the only student who has been awarded the honor for three consecutive years.

In front of many school faculty members, students and their parents, the Dean Emeritus of School of Big Data Management San-Cheng Chang, who is also a chair professor of Soochow, the funder of the Scholarship, and former premier, announced this year’s winners of the Scholarship.

Liu received the scholarship for academic excellence. She thanked Dean Emeritus Chang for establishing the scholarship and many professors of the school for their guidance. She said that she had learnt a lot over the past years at Soochow, and would be glad to share her experiences if the school ever needs her to recruit students.

Assistant professors Fu-Ming Huang and Jheng-Long Wu received the award for “Professor's Guidance,” which was established for the first time to encourage teachers to help students participate in contests and improve the quality of academic research.

Following the award ceremony, Chang, during his speech on the topic of Artificial Intelligence, shared a remarkable case of a Hollywood movie studio which brought AI to the world of post-production and used it to digitally retouch the actors.

According to Chang, AI has broad application and is developing fast. With the case mentioned above, he hoped to inspire students and teachers to make the best of big data analysis and develop creative AI applications.

Established and fund-raised by Chang in 2018, Wen Hua Scholarship was created exclusively for the School of Big Data Management.
