SU students have outperformed their peers from other universities in a cross-college FinTech program with over 200 participants from seven departments of six universities. In presenting their final projects, 15 out of 41 groups were evaluated as excellent by the industry representatives. Among the 72 students who won the honor, 27 were Soochow students, mostly from the School of Big Data Management, as the number accounted for the most among all participating universities.

The course offered by Yun-Cheng Tsai, assistant professor of Soochow’s School of Big Data Management, has also attracted second-most students (67 in total) from the six universities including Soochow University (SU), National Taiwan University (NTU), National Central University (NCU), National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), National Chengchi University (NCCU), and National Tsing Hua University (NTHU).

To nurture future talents for the financial sector, the program invited E.SUN Securities, Taiwan Life Insurance Company, SinoPac Holdings and 6 other enterprises to raise 15 topics for students to work on as their final projects. Students could call for assistance from teachers and instructors for each company when facing any difficulties during the process.

Most participating students commented that the program was truly rewarding; not only were they able to know different people from different schools, but also had valuable opportunities to cooperate on projects and learn from each other.

Winners of the final project evaluation presented their works in an online meeting on June 30th, 2021, and will receive prizes and internships sponsored by these enterprises.
