Demonstrating outstanding research performance, Soochow University’s Institute of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence received two major awards at the 18th Taiwan Management Institute TSC Thesis Awards – AI Application Competition 2025. The event drew over 900 submissions from 73 universities across 13 countries, including 42 international entries.

The Institute’s achievement highlights its strength in human-centered and interdisciplinary research. Yu-Chen Chou (Graduate Institute of Accounting, advised by Prof. Li-Han Kao) was honored for “The Impact of Material Information Disclosure Frequency and Market Reaction on Corporate Financial Distress,” which applies machine learning to financial distress prediction.

Another award went to Chia-Ying Hsu (Department of Computer Science and Information Management, advised by Prof. Hui-Chun Chu) for “Effects of AI-generated Virtual Contexts on Students’ Learning Achievement and Creativity,” an innovative study proposing an AI-supported blended learning model for ancient poetry.

Established in 2008, the TSC Thesis Awards, often called “The Oscars of Management,” encourages graduate research with practical impact. This year’s AI Application theme emphasized technological innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and social relevance.

The Institute of Human-Centered AI continues to promote AI research in accounting, finance, education, and law, with a strong ethical and social focus. These honors affirm its commitment to cultivating professionals who combine innovation with human values.
