From September 4 to 7, 2025, Soochow University’s Co-Site collaborated with 12 universities from five countries, including Tatung University and Taipei Medical University, to convene the 2025 PSBH (Problem Solving for Better Health) Global Hackathon. The event brought together over 400 faculty members and students, marking Taiwan’s largest cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Among Soochow University’s eight participating teams, the group led by Professor Yin-Hsiang Lin from the Department of Chinese Literature earned second place in the Social Innovation category with “Sparks in Collision: Breaking Through the Echo Chamber.” Five other Soochow teams also received Special Jury Awards and Honorable Mentions for their creative solutions.
The PSBH Hackathon gathered outstanding students worldwide to address global issues in healthcare, education, and social innovation. Through inter-university collaboration, participants demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and a strong commitment to social responsibility.
Distinguished guests, including Vice President Shih-Ho Wang of Soochow University and Professor Stephen Timmons of the University of Nottingham (UK), gave opening remarks. Mentors and judges from industry, government, and academia praised participants for combining originality with practical solutions.
Students who completed the full event received digital certificates featuring blockchain-encrypted signatures jointly issued by the presidents of the host universities—symbolizing academic integrity and innovation.
Soochow Co-Site emphasized that PSBH was not only a competition but also a platform for real-world learning. Participants enhanced their teamwork, presentation, and cross-cultural communication skills, broadening their global perspective.
Looking forward, Soochow Co-Site plans to hold innovation workshops and deepen industry–academia partnerships to further strengthen students’ creativity and problem-solving abilities, nurturing the next generation of socially engaged innovators.
