Soochow University has taken a major step toward its smart net-zero campus goal with the adoption of the N-Cour Sustainability and Net-Zero Platform, donated by Solarix System CEO Hsiang-Yu Chen, an alumnus of SU’s EMBA and Information Management graduate programs. The platform supports the University’s transition to data-driven sustainability governance.
The system enables SU to move beyond manual reporting toward an integrated digital framework, allowing more precise monitoring of carbon emission hotspots and aligning campus operations with SDG 13 climate action.
Designed to embed sustainability into everyday operations, the platform integrates organizational roles, workflows, data, and accountability mechanisms. Rather than focusing solely on carbon calculation, it aims to establish a clear governance structure that facilitates coordination across departments.
Chen, who has extensive experience in the information technology sector, noted that global sustainability practices are shifting from disclosure to accountability. “Technology can accelerate the world, but it is governance that allows society to move forward together,” he said, emphasizing the need to turn sustainability from a concept into an operational system.
SU President Chyan-Long Jan highlighted the University’s long-term commitment to environmental sustainability. Soochow has completed ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas verification and implemented the ISO 50001 energy management system, earning recognition such as the Taiwan University Sustainability Award (Silver) and the Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards (Bronze).
Looking ahead, SU and Solarix System plan to expand collaboration in curriculum design, internships, and industry-academia initiatives. By linking theory with practice, the partnership aims to cultivate job-ready green talent with strong governance and systems-thinking capabilities, contributing to the development of green talent for a sustainable future.
