SU Women’s Basketball Team Wins 2nd Straight UBA Title, Extends Winning Streak to 24 Games

Soochow University’s women’s basketball team defeated CTBC Business School 63-50 to clinch the UBA General Women’s Division championship, securing its second consecutive title and extending its winning streak to 24 games across two seasons. The victory also marked Soochow’s fourth UBA championship, following previous titles in the Academic Years 2008-09, 2014-15, and 2024-25.

Facing CTBC Business School once again in the championship game, Soochow trailed behind 12-16 in the first quarter. The team quickly regained momentum in the second quarter with a decisive 14-0 run, opening up the score difference. With solid defense and consistent scoring in the third quarter, Soochow built a strong foundation for the win.

Four Soochow players scored in double figures. Yu-Ting Huang and Hsiu-Chao Lu each scored 12 points, while Fan-Jun Zang added 11 and Shu-Han Yang contributed 10. Team captain Yi-Pei Wu recorded 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Center Ju-Fen Wu added 5 points and 7 rebounds, while guard Hung-Shan Chen also delivered a notable performance with 5 points.

Head Coach Hui-Fang Wu said the team had once again overcome challenges to reach Taipei Arena and completed what once seemed an impossible mission. She emphasized that the championship was the result of collective effort, including school-wide support, assistance from the Office of Physical Education, close cooperation among the coaching staff and medical support team, and the players’ dedication and determination.

At the finals, Soochow’s cheering squad also played a powerful role in supporting the team. Alumni, the university president, senior administrators, faculty members, students, and players’ families gathered at the arena, wearing red “Team Soochow” T-shirts and cheering with thunder sticks throughout the game. Their enthusiastic support became another key force behind Soochow’s back-to-back championship victory.
