Soochow University Again Invited by the Ministry of Education to Co-Organize VR Laboratory Safety Program, Advancing Digital Disaster Prevention Training

The Ministry of Education held the Digital Laboratory and Accident Response Simulation Training Program at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University’s Yangming Campus on July 9, 2026. The Laboratory Safety VR Interactive Learning System, jointly developed by Soochow University’s Center for Teaching and Learning Resources and Department of Chemistry, again received recognition from the Ministry and was invited to serve as a co-organizer for the second consecutive year, showing our efforts for digital transformation and safety education.

The system recreates a general chemistry laboratory at full scale with high-fidelity VR technology, providing a risk-free virtual environment for trainees to repeatedly practice reporting procedures, fire suppression, and emergency rinsing for incidents such as fires and chemical splashes. The system reduces dependence on physical equipment, eases anxiety about damaging facilities, and helps users build familiarity and confidence before hands-on practice.

The program attracted laboratory personnel from universities, colleges, senior high and vocational schools across Taiwan. The immersive training received positive feedback and led to further collaboration with National Taiwan Normal University. Soochow University will continue optimizing the XR system and its promotional application to create a safer teaching environment, fulfilling the “prevention over reaction” spirit.
