Soochow University Data Science Partners with San José State University as First Students Head to Silicon Valley

Soochow University’s School of Big Data Management is deepening its partnership with San José State University (SJSU), moving beyond a formal agreement to substantive student exchange. This fall, the first two students from the Department of Data Science begin the 3+1+1 program at SJSU, with a pathway to master’s-level study and an international learning experience in Silicon Valley.

In August, Dean Kai-Yi Chin led a faculty delegation to SJSU’s College of Information, Data and Society to discuss data science, artificial intelligence, interdisciplinary curricula, student development, and research collaboration, while accessing the learning environment and resources for students.

The delegation also visited the innovation platform Plug and Play in Silicon Valley to learn about the startup ecosystem, accelerator programs, and industry network model. SCU will continue to expand cooperation with SJSU in terms of teaching, research, and student exchange as well as introducing Silicon Valley technology resources, such as working in international companies, startups, and launching their own business, helping them prepare for further study and careers in AI, data science, and the global technology sector.
