On September 23, 2026, Soochow University’s International & Cross-Strait Academic Exchange Office organized a Mid-Autumn Festival mooncake giveaway at both the Waishuanghsi and Downtown campuses. International degree-seeking students, exchange students, Chinese language students, and student volunteers were invited to join in the festivities and learn more about Mid-Autumn Festival traditions. A total of 450 mooncakes in two flavors—taro mochi and red bean with salted egg yolk—were distributed to the students.
For many international students, it was their first time trying mooncakes . After tasting the mooncake they got, a Japanese student happily practiced saying “Ho-Jia!” (“Delicious!”) in Taiwanese, while several French students agreed that the taro flavor was their favorite! These fun moments turned a simple mooncake giveaway into a memorable cultural experience.
Through this event, we hope our international students enjoyed a taste of Taiwanese culture and experienced the spirit of togetherness that the Mid-Autumn Festival represents.
