Under the collaboration by the Department of Sociology, the Central and Eastern European Center (CEEC) and the Hungarian Visiting Lecturer Network, Soochow University presented Hungarian Culture Week from October 25th to 31st, 2024. The event aimed to deepen understanding of Hungary’s culture and strengthen bonds between Taiwan and Hungary.
The week featured lectures, performances, and exhibitions on Hungarian art, music, language, and education. These activities provided valuable insights into Hungary’s diverse cultural landscape and academic opportunities.
SU President Chyan-Long Jan welcomed Hungarian students to Soochow, highlighting the university’s role in fostering international collaboration. He emphasized the Department of Sociology and CEEC as key hubs for Central and Eastern European studies.
Guest speakers, including Tamara Ver, Deputy Representative of the Hungarian Trade Office, and visiting scholar Ilona Csernuanszky, shared insights on the importance of Hungary in Central and Eastern Europe. They encouraged Taiwanese students to explore the region’s culture and academic opportunities.
The Hungarian Trade Office introduced Hungary’s top universities and government scholarships, aiming to attract more Taiwanese students. Through such efforts, Soochow University continues to promote cultural exchange and educational partnerships between Taiwan and Hungary.
